Hazel Dunmow

My love for soul music started at the age of sweet 16 when I worked up in London and most Saturday nights we would all go to Samantha’s night club off Regents Street. I then started going to the Goldmine in Canvey, Lacey Lady in Seven Kings, Zero 6 in Southend and the Norfolk Village in Shoreditch.

I enjoy twice yearly trip to Caister Soul Weekenders from 1988 to 2012. I also went to other weekenders in Poole, Bournemouth and the big Blackpool international soul weekend.

I joined Soul Groove Radio team in February 2020 as admin and really enjoy promoting and advertising the station, shows, DJ’s and merchandise. I have now joined the DJ team and do Saturday afternoons 4-6pm for the ‘Soul Administration’ show.

My involvement in SGR’s 1st all Dayer in August 2020 was a great experience and I can not wait to get involved with more events and who knows a weekender in the future.
