Howie Whiteside

‘I’m Howard Whiteside living in Penwortham Preston Lancashire, I’m married with 4 grown up boys, I have always loved music.

My late parents were in amateur theatre music and my late mother was a accomplished pianist so music was always on in our house. As a teen back in the 1970s, I went to various clubs, for dance, later attending Northern Soul Weekenders, throughout this time I knew I had a love for 70s music.

As a member of a Northern Soul Night near Blackpool we attended a club, one night the host told me of a modern night he was starting up, we went we loved it Crossover 70s Mecca what was there not to like.

We had a very successful business in Blackpool (Value Vacs) and we went to Detroit in 2019, just before covid. When we got back to UK things changed with lockdowns, in 2022 we lost the business, as we had been forced into lockdowns and during that time some friends
who had a soul night, encouraged me to play on Facebook I got the bug buying decks and making a music room, in an extension.

We went back to Detroit 2022 this time being asked to bring some vinyl and playing to the Motown Folks, at the St Regis Hotel then in 2023 I met up with Gary Prescott and we started a night together
in Leyland we called ourselves (SATT) Soul Across The Tracks.

I joined Radio Leyland as a Co presenter on a Jazz Funk show, since then I am in demand in the Northwest and Northeast playing in various clubs, and a couple of Weekenders. I am able to play most types of music from chill to dance.
