Hi there – my name is Angela D N Crowe and I am delighted to be part of Soul Groove Radio –  an internet station I have been listening to and collaborating with since 2018..

I was born in Georgetown, Guyana of mixed heritage – Guyanese, Chinese, Indian and Portuguese, though when I was 3 years of age, moved to England to join my stepfather who was in the British Army and from East London, as well as my Mother and two sisters.

My Mother’s side of the family are Guyanese and I have memories as a child of endless parties with James Brown blasting out of the stereo player, accompanied with lots of dancing!  Also – as a youngster, the Trojan sound was played constantly – Ska and of course Reggae – so I fell in love with this music way back then.

Much later in life – I met and became romantically involved with the late DJ Tony Williams – whom I had listened to on Radio London since a teenager.   Tony had come from Jamaica and presented a reggae show every Sunday lunchtime for 10 years – to millions of listeners.  Of course, he was a great influence to me and revitalised my love of reggae as I spent many hours helping out in his studio in Balham, South London.

Tony was the Father of my only child and unexpectedly passed away in 2018.  It then became my mission to present my own radio show and carry on his work – bringing reggae to the airwaves.

I am so thrilled to have achieved this and every Sunday, I enjoy presenting my show –  through a variety offeatures, demonstrating just how wide the genre of Reggae truly is – with a special emphasis on Lovers Rock.                         

It is my desire to ‘entertain and sometimes, educate’ but I am mainly proud to continue the legacy of DJ Tony Williams and make the listeners who love Reggae and Lovers Rock very happy each Sunday lunchtime..here on Soul Groove Radio..
