The Soul Emperor

I first got into soul music when I was very young through my sisters playing records on Motown, Stax, Atlantic, etc. in the house and by listening to Mike Raven and then Dave Simmons on the radio regularly in the early 70s. As we got to the mid to late 70s, my main influencers were Robbie Vincent and Greg Edwards whose shows were of course legendary and a key part of soul fans’ weekly listening.

During the 80s Martin Collins and Louie Martin were regulars on local radio doing soul shows and I became friends with them and in the late 80s and early 90s I did quite a few gigs with Louie.

Following on from that I did some residencies myself in my hometown of Bedford but by 2012, I decided radio was the avenue I wanted to go down and have been playing soul music ever since on my local urban music station and a couple of specialist soul stations.

I am joining Soul Groove Radio as it’s a station that’s going places and its popularity is growing all the time. I have built up a decent following for my weekly soulful slow jams shows so look forward to bringing that show regularly every Sunday here to Soul Groove Radio.  I also play new and old soul and R&B (Soulful Vibes Show) but the soulful slow jams is the one I particularly want to continue to take forward.

I hope you can join me on my show  ‘The soul Emperor Soulful Vibes’ Tuesday’s 4-6pm. I think you will enjoy them!
